Cowgirl Fever Horse Blanket Becomes All the Rage

In 2010 the horse industry had a fever going among many barrel racers and Quarter Horse exhibitors. It obsessed some horse people, especially the ladies.

You ask, "What fever?" It was the Ozark Cowgirl Fever Horse Blanket.

The Old Gray Mare specializes in horse blankets, sheets and other horse wearables, so I can personally speak to this incomparable fever. This one particular horse blanket grabbed everyone's attention. I'm thinking, "A new collectible that's a must have for horses?"

I soon realized that Ozark had really hit the mark with this horse blanket and it took on a life of its own.

The Ozark I'm talking about is Ozark Leather Saddle King of Texas. They're out of Waco, Texas, and they are an amazing company that markets to the horse industry. I am impressed with their service and quality. But this blanket thing, this "Cowgirl Fever Horse Blanket thing" exceeded any horse item expectations I've experienced. It was an eye opener.

So why not feature an item for the avid horse owner that is not only a terrific product - fits well, is high quality, is affordably priced and meets horsemen's expectations - but is also a collectible? I'm amazed, a horse blanket collectible? I have now seen this phenomenon. The Cowgirl Fever gripped a whole lot of people, and sadly, many did not get the blanket they so desparately wanted.

At the shows, the ladies were parading and showing off their horses in the sharp and very visible Cowgirl Blankets. By golly, it became a sort of status symbol to have one. It was funny to watch supportive husbands, dads and boyfriends stand back and muse, "What's the big deal? It's a womanly thing - Cowgirl Fever is for the women and their horses.

It's not all that hard to figure out. The Cowgirl Fever Horse Blanket by Ozark rapidly became the hottest horse blanket design trend that hit the market in 2010. The blanket had everything the contemporary woman could think of - like hearts, peace symbols, horses and wings; it even had cool skulls and was bordered in hot pink trim. Simply put, the Cowgirl Fever Blanket was "cool."

Many people already know that the Ozark 103 is made with the ever-popular 600 denier Steeltex Rip-Stop Nylon fabric. It provides warmth and cozy comfort to the horse with 300 grams of Fiberfill Insulation. The whole horse blanket turnout is waterproof (that's waterproof as in the horse stays super dry when it's wet and nasty). This blanket stands up to wind and rain and weather like a raincoat, yet it is a contemporary fabric - a today's horse clothing fabric - it is breathable and comfortable. The blanket is designed for freedom of movement and has the contoured rump feature with tail flap that fits horses so well. All this great fabric and design! Underneath the blanket, next to the horse’s fur, is a soft nylon coat-polishing liner that allows quick and easy grooming of your horse. Possibly one of the best features of the Ozark horse blanket is the belly straps. On this blanket the straps criss-cross and can easily be replaced if the hardware breaks. Finally the blanket fit is assured by the hidden rear leg straps.

There is so much value in this horse blanket by Ozark that the added "collectible" aspect is even more amazing at the blanket's price. So, if Cowgirl Fever gripped you this year and you were unsated, I'm sorry you missed out. Originally, only the Cowgirl Fever with its hot pink trim and border was a one-year opportunity. I&'m here to tell you, however, that you can get Cowgirl Fever still - with a slight switch - so listen up to The Old Gray Mare.

Ozark will be introducing another super hot design in its Ozark 103 and I am sworn to secrecy about specifics. But hear me, it's hot, desirable and you'll want one! I'm also told that there will be a Cowgirl Fever version of the Ozark 103 again - not with a pink border though. Suffice it to say it'll be another sizzling color, very popular and possibly even hotter than the pink. Stay tuned . . .

And finally, for the Cowgirl Fever lovers - I have yet more great news about this amazing design for you! Bordered in black, modeled by Little Patrick, Ozark is having a run of a spectacular Ozark Cowgirl Fever Stable Blanket. Expected to become available some time in February, this Stable Sheet can only be purchased as prepaid order. Fair warning - it's going to sell out. Miss it and weep!

Who'd have thought? Very informative and loved the illustration! Mick's brother and sis-in-law raised quarter horses and paints for years. Larry Mahan has a Colorado place just a mile down the road from us but we've never met him (Jimmy and Jane know him, of course) And Mick and me? We LOVE horses, so long as there is a fence separating us (GRIN) - I know, we don't ski either so what's up with that and us and Colorado?

The illustration is "Little Patrick" wearing my mocked up Cowgirl Stable Blanket. This is the article I asked you about in my email - don't know if it ever got to you.

Can you ever believe that we'd have a run in the horse industry on horse blankets? I would not have believed it had you told me the story. It caught on early and people were actually "scalping" this blanket. It was almost a free-for-all at one rodeo. Nothing like a good thing.

I hear about the fence and that is a good thing for lots of people. Horses are pretty big and if you've ever had one step on your foot, then the fence even becomes a better barrier, ha ha.

You're in Colorado - and so is Larry Mahan. Have you ever heard of a place called Phantom Horse Ranch in Westcliffe, CO?

Nope.... Larry only comes her maybe once a year - when we first bought our place he was running long horns (free grazing) and that's why we fenced our place before putting in any trees... I have been to Westcliffe though....

My friend rents this spectacular place out to corporations, for special functions. It has a complete horse facility including a covered arena. It's a private residence with 7 bedrooms and has a separate apartment. It has 8000 square feet in the house and sleeps 21 guests. Great for family and class reunions. If your views are anything like Phantom Horse Ranch's in Westcliffe, then you've got a shangrila.
