An unusually B-I-G lobster was recently caught in the waters off the coast of Canada. He found himself being transported, along with other lobsters, to the New England Lobster Company in San Francisco, CA.

His future seemed to be sealed. The combined live shipment of Crustaceans weighed in at 2-ton for an inevitable meeting with the cooking pot.

But, as fate would have it, this Big Bad Boy received a reprieve thanks to the New England Lobster Company where an employee suggested that he was really too big for the pot. Jennifer Vargas, New England Lobster’s bookkeeper, began seeking solutions to save the Lobster’s life when he came off the scales at over a whopping 18 pounds. That translates to an estimated age of at least 75 years and a lot of missed lobster traps.

During his brief stay, he aroused a whole lot of interest from paying customers but no one had a pot that would fit his enormous size.

Visitors have received the Crustacean with appreciation and interest. Says Aquarium Director Jon Dohlin, “This still-growing lobster is a crowd-pleaser.” Looking at the Lobster with a proud smile, Dohlin said, “He radiates a certain crustacean charisma."

Do you remember the big one the conservationists saved a few years ago? They threw him back in the sea--with the bands still on his claws so he couldnt catch anything to eat!

Actually I do not recall - but shame on the conservationists to condemn the big guy to death like that. Since that's what they did leaving bands on him.
