Aspirin to the Rescue

Recently, a friend passed along a short article lauding aspirin as the primary ingredient for uses around the house – other than as a medicinal product. If you’ve followed some of my articles, you already know that I enjoy finding alternate uses for regular household products. I hadn’t heard anything about aspirin though.
According to this little article in a woman’s magazine, there are “smart ways to use Aspirin.” For instance:
Toss an Aspirin in with your whites when doing laundry. Over time, the Aspirin will prevent the yellowing of the whites.
Have dandruff? Crush 2 Aspirins and mix into a squirt of your regular shampoo. Apply to your hair, and let sit for two minutes. Rinse off. Then wash and scrub hair with another squirt of shampoo as usual. Rinse.
The itchiness from bug bites is maddening at times. Make that itch stop! Simply wet the spot of the bite, rub Aspirin on it and the itch should lessen immediately. The Aspirin acts as an anti-inflammatory, reducing the itch.
If your children bring you grass stains, or food and rust stains on their clothes, dissolve a few Aspirin tablets in hot water and rub the liquid right into the stains. The clothing should be good as new.
Aspirin purportedly works on face pores and blemishes, too. Pulverize from 3 to 5 Aspirin tablets in just enough warm water to mix up a paste. Spread this on the face and let dry (about 15 minutes). Rinse off thoroughly for smooth, refreshed skin.
I’m in the process of doing laundry and I’m trying the Aspirin suggestion for the whites. Later I’ll also try the facial scrub. Who knows, maybe today is ideal for another Calgon moment. Take me away . . .

Top-level comments on this article: (2 total)Ahh, the Willow Tree. Don't you imagine the most ancient of people came across the willow tree with its cool, mellow, sleepy time branches that practically make you surrender to slumber, and said, let's see if consuming this will make us feel better.
They probably cooked it, sucked on it, crushed it, made tea out of it and use it like an herb. Anyway. Here's to your article YEA!Love willow trees.
Wonder if that's how they found out about the hemlock? It's a permanent fix
I'm always seeking household multi-task items. Fun to try like the cucumber and banana
yep, I take one a day on cardioloist's orders, great for pain and inflamation, tooYou know, Jack, I was going to do some of the medical points too, but decided I'd keep it general for the home. Now that I see your great comment, I'm thinking I probably blew it by not adding it.
