Sometimes finding a piece of original art can set you back mucho bucks – or the price can nearly break the bank. For many of us, there are countless other items we need or want to decorate our homes, and original artwork is just too pricey.

Perhaps I stumbled onto something this past week. Or maybe not. I’d like to share it with you and you’ll decide whether you want to explore any further.

I grew up with a love of art. Quite often I thought I’d enjoy becoming a graphic artist. An alternative? I pictured myself doing something creative. I suppose stained glass and mosaics fit into that desire, so all is not a total loss. Yet, I’m frequently drawn to art shows, galleries, museums and on cruises, I hate to admit it but I’ll sit through some of the art selling attempts; I always learn a lot but buy the prints? Nope – I have my personal favorites anyway.

So to the point of my article –

You can find some really great deals online, and I’m not talking about ebay right now. I know that ebay has many paintings dubbed original oil paintings or watercolors that are mass-produced and definitely not the subject of this piece. Instead, check out the uGallery.com website, where you can find an original art piece for literally pennies on the dollar in comparison to known and established painters.

This website features art students and artists seeking to establish themselves. Prices range from under $100 and up. Differing media are available including acrylics, oils and photographs.

The site brings affordable original art to everyone with an interest in art. The selling platform for uGallery is the new and emerging artist. It also offers original photographs, various media and limited edition prints.

The Gallery has a unique offer when there is real interest in a painting. The prospective art buyer is able to hang the original art piece into his/her home for one week. During that time, the buyer can decide if it works perfectly with the décor of the home or he/she has the option to return it.

Any purchase on the site supports the art community. It is entirely possible to discover a future hot artist at uGallery. Is another Picasso looming in the future?

The site has an under $100 section, and has a search section based on subject. The art is also searchable by genre, medium and price, new and collection.

Each day, uGallery has a Daily Deal. At noon, the site features an original work of art at “an insane price.” Apparently, fans of artists and the site flock to see the special and begin the fight to own it.

I found the concept of supporting budding new artists and the fresh, unique art very appealing. Probably I’m more fascinated about it at the moment anyway uGallery.com logo and infosince my tour at Woodstock Academy. This is a school in Connecticut that has a fine art program for high schoolers. It features art by their own kids on the corridor walls. I would gladly have purchased any number of those pieces of art. Wow! The kids are not only budding artists, but they’re good – real good.

So I browsed through the site and found some interesting pieces. I invite you to see for yourselves. The site is (www)uGallery(dot)com.
