Luscious, fingerlickin’ yummies. Most simple recipe for rum balls that I’ve ever seen. Taste is sooo good. These rum ball treats are delectable and ultra easy to make!
I tracked down the person who brought them to a recent party just to get her to share the recipe. She was thrilled to share it. Originally it came from her friend who got it from a friend and so on. It’s made the rounds and is going strong.
The recipe calls for rum, pecans, wafers. What could be easier.
The Ingredients:
3 1/2 Cups Vanilla Wafer Cookies (that’s about 70 Cookies or 8 3/4 Ounces)
1 Cup Pecans (chopped fine)
3/4 Cup Confectioner’s Sugar
1 Tablespoon Cocoa Powder (Unsweetened)
1/4 Cup Light Rum
1/4 Cup Light Corn Syrup
1 Tablespoon Vanilla Extract
1/2 Cub of Decorating Sugars
Advance Preparation:
Line a Baking Sheet with Wax Paper.
Pulse the Wafers in a Food Processor. Elsa suggests we pulse them for 30 second intervals until they are finely crumbled. Transfer them into a bowl.
Make the Rum Balls:
Step 1: Stir in the Pecans, Confectioner’s Sugar, Cocoa Powder, Rum, Corn Syrup, and the Vanilla Extract. Blend well.
Step 2: Cover the bowl and blended ingredients. Allow to stand for at least 20 minutes.
Step 3: Roll bits of the dough into approximately 1” balls. (2 tsp. of dough mixture equals one ball) – Transfer the rolled rum balls to the baking sheet that’s been lined with wax paper.
Step 4: Cover the baking sheet tightly. Now refrigerate the sheet for no less than 4 hours; longer or overnight is perfect.
Step 5: Optional Step. Roll the rum balls in the decorating sugars.
You can serve these little treats in small candy cups or make a lovely presentation on a platter.
This recipe yields about 28 rum balls.

They are rich in calories and it’s not a treat you want to have often. But then it is a treat and once in a while it will be your little reward. Certainly guests will enjoy them immensely.
I love a simple recipe that takes almost no time to prepare, that can be prepared ahead of time, be served without heating, and satisfies those once-in-a-while cravings. So you indulge until another time that a special treat is in order.

Top-level comments on this article: (1 total)Sounds like a great holiday or birthday treat. I will try to ignore those sweets that are habit forming. Thanks. They are usually always popular at Christmas. But we like them in winter. They're fun to have and pop one or two. They're rich. This is the easiest ever recipe so it's a breeze to make them. I'm not a sweets lover except chocolate bars. My taste extends primarily to the Swiss chocolates or the German ones. So stuff can be around and I won't touch it. But don't have Pistachios around. Those are the ones that make me go gaga.
